Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the Colloquium ‘Global Precipitation Data Sets and their Applications – Status Quo and Way Forward’ organized by the Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC). The colloquium is hosted by Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD, national meteorological service of Germany) and will be conducted at DWD headquarter in Offenbach/Germany on July, 11th 2023. We intend to provide the possibility to virtually attend the colloquium. Please, express your interest in participation and indicate whether you are interested in the option of virtual participation until May, 19th 2023 by sending an email to gpcc@dwd.de <mailto:gpcc@dwd.de> .
The colloquium aims at giving an overview about the current status of quality control of global precipitation data sets. Furthermore, it focuses on the manifold applications of those data sets and on the requirements of specific applications.
We invite contributions (oral and poster) on the following topics:
* Generation of global precipitation data sets
* Interpolation schemes suitable for precipitation gridding
* Quality control and homogenization of precipitation data
* Use cases of global precipitation data sets in various sectors
* Expected capabilities of precipitation data sets for prospective applications
We are happy to receive your abstract (max. 500 words) until April, 24th 2023. Please send it to gpcc@dwd.de <mailto:gpcc@dwd.de> . We will inform you on the type of your presentation (oral or poster) by May, 5th 2023.
Abstract submission and participation are free of charge. Reimbursement of travel costs and daily allowance is not possible.
We kindly ask you to forward this invitation to interested colleagues and spread it in your network.
The Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC) was established in 1989 at DWD on request of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Its tasks are the collection, quality control, and storage of in situ precipitation data. Based on these data, a suite of gridded precipitation data sets is produced.
