INCUS Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University

This position will be located in Fort Collins, Colorado

Desired start date: 1 December 2022

The van den Heever research group invites applicants to apply for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow. This position will design, run and analyze a large suite of high-resolution numerical model simulations to assist in the development and validation of satellite radar remote sensing algorithms and products for the NASA INCUS mission. The position also involves using these simulations to explore science questions related to convective cloud processes as well as how they are represented in models and observations. The postdoctoral fellow position will have opportunities to collaborate with leading scientists at top research institutions and universities that are involved with the INCUS mission, including several NASA laboratories. The INCUS mission is comprised of a train of three Ka-band precipitation radars and a microwave radiometer and requires evaluation of its primary algorithms, as well as the development and testing in support of its three Level-3 products. These products are comprised of convective mass flux profiles, environmental properties, life cycle information, high cloud properties and severe weather characteristics as a function of each INCUS-observed and tagged convective storm.
